About Cabinet Concepts:

I opened my home-based business, formerly called Cabinet Concepts, in 2003 in Columbia, Missouri, because I am passionate about planning creative spaces, especially kitchens and bathrooms. As a former designer at a local cabinet showroom, I learned from experience that the large showrooms are not necessarily the best place for clients to get what they want: high-quality cabinetry at AFFORDABLE prices. The overhead costs in a typical showroom necessitate substantial mark-ups, often making the cabinetry unaffordable. Also, the rigid hours and client overload make it difficult for designers to offer the prompt, outstanding service and attention to detail that clients deserve. I knew there had to be a better way.

Thus, a new idea was born, and I called it Cabinet Concepts: A New Way To Think About Buying Cabinetry. Why is it different? First of all, instead of an extensive showroom, I employ modern technology via a virtual showroom. On my website, you can peruse photos of actual jobs I've designed, and explore links to my suppliers' websites. This saves time by initially introducing you to my designs and my products from the convenience and privacy of home.

If you like what you see on the website, the next step is for us to meet in person. And that brings us to a second point of difference. When I relocated to Cary, North Carolina in 2005, I realized I could no longer operate my business from home because I didn't know anyone in North Carolina. So I opened The Top Drawer, A Gallery of Knobs and Pulls for Cabinets, located at 117 W. Chatham Street, in the Ashworth Village Shopping Center in downtown Cary. At The Top Drawer I have a gorgeous display of my custom cabinets which I use as my working office, along with an array of door and color samples. Because sales of decorative hardware pay the overhead expenses of The Top Drawer Store I have been able to keep cabinet prices the SAME as when I worked from home; and the savings get passed on to you. To avoid confusion I no longer use the name Cabinet Concepts, but rather I now do business as The Top Drawer.

Understandably this unique way of buying cabinetry does not work for everyone. Some customers will need a traditional showroom environment with numerous cabinet displays to help them visualize the cabinetry and how it will look in their own home. That's fine, but they can expect to pay more, typically thousands of dollars more for this convenience. But for those who are able to look at one very nice display, along with door samples and photographs, and envision those images in their own spaces, The Top Drawer can save them a substantial sum of money. It will take a bit more imagination, visualization, (and perhaps, at times, a trip to a former client's home to see their job first hand) on the part of those customers, but the payoff is in the savings.

Finally, I can offer you the added benefit of scheduling appointments at your convenience. Appointments can be made before, during, or after store hours at The Top Drawer (Tues-Fri 10-5 or Sat 11-4) or any time on Mondays, at the customer's choice of location. I make every attempt to provide the kind of personalized and convenient service that I myself would desire.

The Top Drawer carries two exquisite, high-quality cabinet lines: Vision Woodworks (a custom line manufactured in Kansas) and Medallion Cabinetry (a semi-custom line made in Minnesota). All come with excellent warranties. Also available with the purchase of cabinetry is a wide variety of countertop choices: granite, engineered quartz, wood, laminate, concrete and solid surface. For bathrooms we offer Cultured Onxy lavatory tops, shower bases and walls. And my store, The Top Drawer has the most unique and distinctive selection of decorative hardware (including knobs, pulls, door knobs, door knockers, doorbells, and bath hardware) in the Triangle area.

So, why is purchasing cabinetry from The Top Drawer a smart idea? It saves time and money, and gives you convenience and highly personalized service. And because I am passionate about what I do, I pledge to help you in your home building/remodeling process by providing thoughtful design and fine cabinetry for your lifestyle and budget.
